This article offers readers a comprehensive introduction to the healthcare ecosystem of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). The myriad lines of effort undertaken throughout the entire spectrum of operations ensure: 1) force health optimisation and protection, so that all SAF service personnel are operationally ready for their respective duties and training, and 2) the regeneration of fighting troops. The SAF Medical Corps’ motto of “Seek, Save, Serve” codifies this noble purpose to save lives into our medical vocationalists’ DNA.In peacetime, other than the provision of in-house primary and selected specialist medical and dental care, the SAF Medical Corps undertakes many health promotion efforts to promote physical fitness, mental wellness, and healthy lifestyle choices. On the medical training front, the SAF has utilised technology and artificial intelligence to transform its training pedagogy which has, in turn, raised overall training effectiveness and standards.Throughout the history of the SAF Medical Corps, numerous teams have been deployed to support the SAF’s operations other than war, which include peace support operations, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions, and socio-civic missions. Collectively, these efforts, as well as other military medical diplomatic engagements, have contributed to the building of defence relationships with foreign militaries. This article is an adapted reproduction of Singapore’s refreshed write-up on the Military Medical Corps Worldwide Almanac that was published on 17 September 2024.
