Realising integrated knowledge-based command and control : transforming the SAF

2003
Book
Integrated Knowledge-based Command and Control is built on the timeless imperative that superior knowledge at each relevant timeframe provides the military commander with a decisive advantage over his adversary. While the fog and friction of war are ever present, IKC2 is the critical enabler that will give the SAF an overwhelming edge over the adversary. IKC2 is network enabled and knowledge-driven, enhancing combat power with speed and precision. It will drive forces towards achieving greater shared situational awareness, thereby enabling self-synchronisation and dynamic real-time collaborative planning. This will enable the SAF to make better decisions quicker and deliver overwhelming combat power precisely and effectively at a given time, for desired effect. This monograph is an attempt to describe IKC2 as the cornerstone of military transformation, interpreting it in terms of organisational change, technological opportunities, experimentation, and innovation and application in effects-based operations.-- SAF Professional Reading Programme, 4th Edition - STAGE I: OCT to CPT 1 & 1WO-2WO.
