The effectiveness of non-offensive defence as a military strategy in the current international environment

Singapore Armed Forces2024
Book
In this essay, the author examines the view that traditional Non-Offensive Defence (NOD) is not an effective military strategy in current times. He supports his arguments by analysing the origins of this military strategy and its fundamental principles. He then follows up with a discussion on the limitations of NOD, and the ‘game changers’ in modern day security realities. The author then concludes with a case study of Taiwan and how NOD can possibly remain effective in today’s world.
