Articles
Abstract: This essay presents a case study of BG (Ret) Eric Tan Huck Gim’s experience serving in the United Nations Mission of Support in East Timor. It illustrates that all components large and small make valuable contributions to a peacekeeping mission, especially when their efforts are complementary and well-integrated. Tactical success on the ground not only gives confidence to the local population, but can also influence decisions by the international community, ensuring that resources continue to be made available for the mission to achieve its assigned tasks. Keywords: Coalition Warfare; East Timor; Operations Other Than War; Peacekeeping
