¿́¿This case study was written by the defense counsel for General Yamashita and it argued that the ¿́¿Tiger of Malaya¿́¿ was denied military justice by the American military tribunal who tried General Yamashita for war crimes relating to the Manila Massacre and sentenced him to death. This case has become a precedent regarding the command responsibility for war crimes and is known as the Yamashita Standard. The US defense counsel appealed to the US Supreme Court but it was in vain.¿́¿ -- SAF Professional Reading Programme, 4th Edition ¿́¿ STAGE III: MAJ 2 to LTC 1.
